Graduate Student uses DART for organic synthesis experiments. During my education, the closest that chemistry students got to any mass spectrometer was to admire it through the window of a closed door. Today, many graduate students like Samson Francis of University of Tennessee Knoxville actively use DART for organic synthesis studies. Samson's story was told in the Spring Newsletter of the Chemistry Department. DART Applications from Prague. Our friends at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague have released their presentation on food analysis with DART. The slide show reviews their findings in: the use of ammonium hydroxide as a CI agent for the determination of edible oils; characterization of honey; use of SPME in coffee characterization; pesticides in wheat, both in extracts and wheat kernels; and use of AutoDART for analysis of beverages.
